Canned   •   Drawings and paintings by Sean Morgan   •   September 26th- October 15th, 2014
Picture
Canned is a tale of stagnation and initiative where penthouse residing ‘tower people’ live above bottom- feeding ‘can collectors’. Day in and day out, the hermit-like tower people pump their waste out of their quarters while the vagrant can collectors flock to consume what little value is left in that waste; their cans and bottles. While both parties are aware of each other, they never interact, and their knowledge of one another stirs disparate emotions. Sean Morgan juxtaposes these figures within the picture frame; visual extracts from a documented caste system.

Sean Morgan combines the rotund, repetitive energy of Texas graffiti with illustrative composure. His work processes personal experiences and observations by abbreviating complicated subjects with a wild, juvenile stroke. Canned is based on Sean Morgan’s experiences working as a valet at the tallest all-residential building this side of the Mississippi. Sean received his BFA in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin. His current whereabouts are unknown.
