World War IV • A group sculpture show featuring six artists • January 22nd - March 5th, 2016
Freshly unfamiliar, or a different version of something you thought you already knew. It’s like waking up from what you thought was going to be the next morning, but decades have passed. Hello, WW IV. The perpetual battle is to pick through the remains of objects; their durable brutish parts; the parts that tell you what a thing is but don’t quite make is functional. There’s a whirring sound, but no obvious source. The skeletal infrastructure remains. It simplifies and immortalizes what once was, becoming the foundation for venturing onward.
Zoe Berg is from Austin, TX and currently lives and works in Denton, TX. Berg received a BFA from The University of Texas at Austin and was granted both the Roy Crane Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in the Visual Arts and the UT System Regents’ Outstanding Arts and Humanities Award in 2013. Berg has participated in Land Arts of the American West (2012); Ox-Bow School of Art (2012); and ACRE artist residency (2014). Coffman received her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and attended Virginia Commonwealth University Summer Studio Program in 2015. Braxton Congrove currently lives and works in Richmond, VA. Congrove graduated from James Madison University and attended Virginia Commonwealth University Summer Studio Program in 2015. She is part of Studio Two Three, and Cosmic Mothership artist co-op. Her work has recently been part of exhibitions in Richmond, Chicago, and Harrisonburg. Aaron Meyers lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Meyers received a BS from Bucknell University with honors in Mathematics in 2010, and an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015. Rachael Starbuck is an interdisciplinary artist from Miami, Fl working primarily with sculpture and video. Starbuck re- ceived her BFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 and currently lives and works in Austin, TX where she attends the Studio Art MFA program at the University of Texas at Austin.
